Greg Willows scored an unbeaten 70 as Clevedon saw off Sidmouth to book their place in the next round of the Royal London Club Championship on Sunday.

The opener and stand-in captain for the day in the absence of Jake Lintott, struck six fours in his 85-ball knock as Clevedon chased down a revised target in a rain-reduced clash at Dial Hill.

Batting first, Sidmouth made 150-6 from 33 overs, with James Caddick (3-11) the pick of the bowlers on his first team debut.

Jack Harding (2-30) chipped in with two wickets in an impressive bowling display from the hosts, before rain caused a short delay to proceedings.

In reply, Clevedon lost Will Thirkell early on, but found solidarity in a partnership of 49 between Willows and Ben Charlesworth (31).

The latter fell to the spin of Charlie Miles, before Connor Crane was run-out for 10 to leave Clevedon 85-3.

Cam Harding was caught and bowled soon after, but Willows stood firm to bring up his half-century and lead his side to victory alongside Will Carpenter (31 not out).

Clevedon will face the winners of Truro versus Wadebridge at Dial Hill in the next round.
